WHAT IS THE METTIS TRAINER®?
The Mettis Trainer® is an innovative shoe insert system that captures and displays running performance information on a smartphone. Each insert has three BendSensors®, one in the heal area, one on the lateral side of the foot and one on the medial side of the foot. Each sensor reads independently and will tell you when each area of your foot strikes and what percentage of pressure that area of your foot absorbs. The hardware in the insert will then immediately send that information to your portable device for REAL TIME feedback.
DO I NEED TO ATTACH ANYTHING OUTSIDE MY SHOE?
No.
Unlike the other products, everything you need is built within the insert itself. Just put the insert
inside your shoe and you are ready to go.
CAN I FEEL THE SENSOR IN MY SHOE?
No.
The BendSensors® in the insert are printed on a 5 mil (.127mm) polyester material. Far thinner than you can feel in the insert.
HOW DOES THE METTIS TRAINER® WORK?
The Mettis Trainer® utilizes Bluetooth technology to wirelessly transmit information from a shoe insert to a smartphone. Sensors in the insert communicate with a mobile app to display real time information to users.
HOW DOES THE SENSOR WORK?
The Mettis Trainer® insert contains a proprietary sensor called a BendSensor®. It is a single layer flexible potentiometer that works by merely bending the sensor.
Potentiometers commonly consist of more than one layer of material with a conductive material strip in the middle. The BendSensor® does not require a conductive middle strip and therefore does not require more than one layer of material.
The BendSensor® also differs from common sensors in that it eliminates the need for several moving parts. Common sensors comprise a resistive element, a sliding contact (wiper) that moves along the element, making good electrical contact with one part of it, electrical terminals at each end of the element, a mechanism that moves the wiper from one end to the other, and a housing containing the element and wiper. IN SHORT, several moving parts. The BendSensor® is ONE PART.
WHO CAN USE THE METTIS TRAINER®?
Anyone with shoes and a smartphone (or other Bluetooth wireless device) using Android or iOS can use the Mettis Trainer®.
WILL THE METTIS TRAINER® INSERTS WORK IN MY SHOES?
In most cases yes. If you have a properly fitted pair of shoes, for running, golf, tennis, or any other sport, you will be able to remove the insoles and replace them with the Mettis Trainer® inserts.
HOW LONG WILL THE INSERTS LAST?
The BendSensors® in the Mettis Trainer® have been tested to millions of cycles. The insert itself, not including the BendSensor®, will wear out before sensor does.
