Thursday, November 19, 2015

(Mettis Trainer — November 19, 2015) —  Three of the most attended conventions in the U.S. are:

1. The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES)

The International Consumer Electronics Show or “CES” is sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) a trade association whose members represent some $300 billion in annual sales. The 2016 International CES which will be held the first week of January, will be a gathering of more than 3,500 exhibitors. These exhibitors will represent all facets of the booming tech market, from hardware companies, to content generators, and even technology delivery systems. More than 150,000 visitors from 150 countries around the world will be there to see the exhibits and attend some 200 different conference sessions.

2. The chemical weapons convention (CWC)

The CWC convention was put in place to control the use of chemical weapons and the complete destruction and ban of the weapons. The agreement was put in place by the organization for the people prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) and is based in the Hague Netherlands. The convention has recorded success and 78% of the chemical weapons had been destroyed as of January 2013. The convention investigates allegations production and use of chemical weapons with reference from its own intelligence as it is an independent organization.

What makes the organization popular is the fight for peace and the need of unity among the people.

The convention is popular and boasts participants from 189 different countries.

3. The convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women (CEDAW)

The CEDAW convention was adopted in 1979 by the UN general assembly to fight against discrimination against women worldwide. The convention aims at bringing equality among women and award them the same social status as compared to the men. Women have struggled to lift their social status by trying to bring in equal opportunities, these opportunities may be in form of political participation, education opportunities, health and employment. The convention has been of success as most countries have been able to appreciate women’s status.
